About an africa tribe, those that knew about the binary star?

just wondered if anybody knew the name of the tribe, or that knew anything about the story. i think the story was ped down through tribal generations that the star(Sirius i think) was a binary(twin)star. they were visited by travelers(aliens) that told them about the binary system and other info, and they found out in recent history that they were right!!!!..i watched something about it ages ago and any info would help me....thank you!!!!
