Santa Marta is a beautiful city with views of the natural harbor and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains rising right behind. It has an average yearly temperature of 81 degrees f. and there are lots of tourists. Many people visit for vacation and cruise ships use it as a port of call. Crime is not much different than any other city in the world but it is known for smuggling.
